The school provides a positive and supportive environment that is conducive to the learning of sound moral values and opportunities to exercise personal responsibility. Our learning environment is structured so as to enable our students to develop life skills and learn collaboratively.  Guided by the school motto, honesty, courtesy and perseverance are the virtues that underpin the way of life in the Cedar community.  Together with this, the five school values of moral integrity, passion for learning, love for the school and nation, synergy in diversity, and a culture of graciousness are the hallmarks of the Cedar learning environment.

More Information

Cedar Girls' Secondary School was founded in 1957 as a single-session girls' school with an enrolment of 507 pupils.

Amidst the uncertainties of the 1950s, and with the belief that education is the key to a secured future, it has since progressed from its humble beginnings to become one of the best schools in Singapore, well-known for its excellent achievements both in academic as well as in athletic fields.

Today, the picture is totally different. The school enrolment is about 1300 pupils and teaching staff of 80. The school went single session in 1992 and gained autonomous status in 1996. All classes are in the Express Stream / Special Stream. We are also one of the top twenty secondary schools in Singapore.

We also made our mark in various extra-curricular activities, winning tournaments at zonal and national schools levels, especially in the National Inter-Schools Track and Field Championships where we are the reigning champions for the Girls B and C Divisions, for the sixth year running. The Choir, Drama and Dance Clubs were also in the limelight, winning gold medals and putting up creative public performances.
